During his sophomore season, Franz Wagner continued to shine. His stats boasted 13 points per game, coupled with 6.3 rebounds, 30 steals and 23 blocks. With his great performance, he secured him second-team All-Big honors from the coaches and third-team recognition from the media. His decision to enter the 2021 NBA draft marked a pivotal transition in his career, as it was a major step towards the beginning of his professional career.


Professional Career

Franz Wagner started out his professional career with Alba Berlin during the 2017-2019 seasons, He performed on a dual contract for both Alba Berlin inside the BBL and SSV Lokomotive Bureau in the ProB League. He won the BBL Best Ypung Player Award in 2019 and continued to impress with his on-court contributions.


Franz commenced his journey inside the NBA after being drafted by the as the 8th overall pick of the Orlando Magic in 2021. Thereafter, he began playing for this NBA group, adding a new dimension to the team’s aspirations. Franz’s debut season showcased his adaptability and talent. He recorded his first double-double in a match against the Brooklyn Nets. The highlight of his rookie season came when he delivered a remarkable 38 point performance against the Milwaukee Bucks, showcasing his scoring abilities. This achievement led him to being named the NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for December.


Franz’s sophomore season further solidified his status inside the league. He set a career-high with 31 points against the Sacramento Kings and continued to demonstrate his playmaking abilities with six assists in the same game. His overall performance inside the NBA was great as he constantly led the team to reach the greater heights. Franz’s hard work and dedication were recognized as he secured a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team, slolidifying his status as a rising NBA star.
