Jalen Marquis Brunson is a professional American basketball player who plays in the NBA as a point guard for the New York Knicks. Brunson was born in New Brunswick but then shifted to Illinois and joined Stevenson High School. He averaged 23.3 points, 5.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game as a senior. He was also a two-time Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015 and was also Illinois' Mr. Basketball as a senior. Brunson decided to enroll in Villanova University and play for the Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team. During his stay at Villanova, he helped the team win two championships in over three years. As a junior, he also outperformed his previous year's college stats by averaging 18.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.

Jalen Brunson was drafted in the 2018 NBA draft as the 33rd overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks on June 21, 2018. As a rookie, he averaged 9.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Brunson stayed with the Mavericks for four seasons before he joined the New York Knicks on July 12, 2022. As of May 26, 2025, he has appeared in 487 NBA regular season games, averaging 18.1 points, 5.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game. Brunson has also represented his country and has helped the United States win two gold medals.
