Monte Morris is an American basketball player who plays as the backup point guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hailing from Flint, Michigan, Morris was childhood friends with NBA player Kyle Kuzma, with both attending Dailey Elementary School. Morris then moved on to play basketball at the Flint Beecher High School where his talent on the court earned him Michigan's Mr. Basketball award in 2013.

After a successful college career at Iowa State from 2013 to 2017, Morris was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 51st overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Over five seasons with the Nuggets, he steadily improved, adapting to the intensity and fitness required at the professional level.

Morris’ role as a backup point guard behind Jamal Murray proved to be well-suited, as his smooth jump shot, reliable ball-handling and high basketball IQ transitioned brilliantly to the NBA level. One of Morris' standout moments came on February 16, 2022, when he scored 13 points, and hit a game-winning 3-pointer against the Golden State Warriors.

Despite being American, Morris has committed to play for the Nigerian national team as a naturalized player. In the 2023/24 NBA season with the Timberwolves, Morris averaged 5.0 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game over 33 games.
