Born on November 12, 1988, Russell Westbrook, the American basketball point guard, plays for the Denver Nuggets as of May 2025. Before stepping into the NBA, Westbrook played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. In the 2008 NBA draft, he was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics as the fourth overall pick. The team relocated to Oklahoma City later that week and rebranded as the Oklahoma City Thunder. During the 2016-17 season, he won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award.

In 2019, Westbrook was traded to the Houston Rockets, where he played one season before being traded again to the Washington Wizards in 2020. After becoming the all-time triple-double leader in the history of the NBA with the Wizards, he was traded to the LA Lakers in 2021. He is a nine-time NBA All-Star and also a nine-time All-NBA Team member. Westbrook has also twice played for the United States national team - at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the 2012 Olympics, winning gold medals in both competitions.
