Commonly known as THT, Talen Jalee Horton Tucker is an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz. Coming from the city of Chicago, Tucker’s journey into the basketball world began during his schooling at the St. Matthias Elementary School. He was recognized for his contributions to the basketball program with the school retiring his jersey. Tucker went on to play at Simeon Career Academy by the end of which he was deemed a four-star recruit.

Tucker committed to playing college basketball at the Iowa State University where he showcased his versatile style of play as a point guard, He averaged almost 12 points, five rebounds and just over two assists per game. Declaring for the NBA draft in the year 2019, Tucker was selected as the 46th overall pick in the 2nd round of the draft by the Orlando Magic. He was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers and was received well by the fans. He went on to become the youngest player to win an NBA championship at the age of 19, when the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2019-2020 NBA championship under the leadership of Lebron James.

Tucker has displayed his ability as an athletic two-way player in the NBA. Shirley Horton and Marlin Tucker are the parents of Talen Horton Tucker.

Tucker’s father, Marlin passed away in April 2016, before his 42nd birthday and just a few months before Talen Horton received his first scholarship offer. His mother, Shirley, has been a strong factor in supporting Talen Horton through times of difficulty.

Tucker is noted as having stated that he was now striving to succeed in dedication to his mother, who has gone through different hardships and times of tragedy. Shirley Horton was a school teacher at McCutcheon Elementary and Nash Elementary. This factor safeguarded Talen from observing the harsh realities of violence in Chicago for a certain period of time before he experienced it.

Shirley recalls the time when Talen was a small boy and sat by the basketball court. His love for the game was recognized by the fact that he used to cry on the side of the court and ask to join older boys who were playing basketball.
