The New Orleans Saints are scheduled to make nine selections at the 2025 NFL Draft, starting with their first selection at the ninth overall pick. The team has needs all over the roster, starting from the quarterback position. Apart from a potential franchise-altering quarterback, Mickey Loomis and his team will look to stabilize their offense through wide receivers and offensive linemen such as left guard, as per NFL's official website. However, many analysts have predicted the ninth overall selection to be tricky for the team.

While Crescent City might be tempted to draft a quarterback in round 1, their last season's performance demands that they address other needs, such as lineman positions. In 54 years, New Orleans has never selected a quarterback in the first round of the draft, which again puts a question mark behind the possibility of drafting a playmaker on Day 1.

What are the New Orleans Saints' biggest needs in the 2025 NFL Draft?

The Saints are likely to address the following needs at 2025 NFL Draft if they intend to pull off a Super Bowl-worthy season: quarterback, tight end, wide receiver, cornerback, and edge.

Cornerback

According to USA Today, Jahdae Barron from Texas could be an answer to the defensive secondary for the Saints. Since Paulson Adebo moved to New York after free agency and Marshon Lattimore has found his home with the Washington Commanders in 2024, the Saints might finally have a cornerback for long term. Will Johnson from Michigan, who had nine interceptions in three years, could help the team force turnovers.

Edge

NFL's official website has projected the Saints to go for Mykel Williams to add that extra flair to their edge. Despite re-signing Chase Young to a three-year, $51 million deal, Kellen Moore would not shy away from further solidifying this position. Williams has been considered one of the best rushers after Abdul Carter (via NOLA).

Tight end

Tyler Warren of Penn State is a projected pick as the New Orleans Saints' tight end, according to SB Nation, Pro Football Network, and Underdog Fantasy. Charlie Campbell of Walter Football has reported that Warren, with his big body, could complement the smaller speed receivers in the unit. In 2024, he had 8 touchdowns for 1,233 yards. Some other options for the Saints at the tight end position include Mason Taylor, Colston Loveland, and Elijah Arroyo (via New Orleans Saints' official website).

Wide Receiver

According to Saints Wire, the unit still needs a wideout with a large frame to block smaller defenders. The addition of Brandin Cooks has reduced the state of urgency for the position. According to CBS Sports and Pro Football Network, Tetairoa McMillan from Arizona will provide that extra edge to the Saints in the offensive division.

Quarterback

Derek Carr and his shoulder injury have put the Saints in a fix. While they might want to find a solid player for the starting quarterback position, the 2025 NFL Draft is a two-deep QB class with limited options. According to CBS Sports, Shedeur Sanders is one of the best quarterback options for New Orleans if they can manage to pick him in round 1 by trading up. However, if Sanders is not available at No. 9 or the Saints decide to go for the QB in later rounds, they might pick Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, or Quinn Ewers.
