The Houston Texans have seven picks in hand in the seven rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. This includes the overall 25th pick in round 1 and four selections within the first 90 picks, as per NFL's official website. These openings will allow GM Nick Caserio plenty of room to settle the offensive line front and the center, especially after trading away OT Laremy Tunsil.

Another thing that remains to be seen is whether the Texans' general manager will trade up again. Out of his 18 draft-day trades, Nick Caserio has moved the Texans up thirteen times. The draft capital also gives leeway to the team to execute this move once again (via Houston Chronicle). Nonetheless, H-Town will try to build a solid shield around quarterback C.J. Stroud in terms of tackle and interior positions.

Houston Texans' biggest needs in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Houston Texans moved on from left tackle Laremy Tunsil, left guard Kenyon Green, wide out Christian Kirk, and right guard Shaq Mason. Despite signing Ed Ingram, Cam Robinson, and Laken Tomlinson, it is evident that the unit's top needs reportedly include: offensive tackle, guard, and wide receiver. After all, Ingram, Robinson, and Tomlinson allowed pressure rates that ranked in the top 10 highest at their positions in 2024, as per NFL's official website.

Offensive Tackle

According to Yahoo Sports, Josh Conerly Jr. is a possible choice for the Texans. His versatility of play in the offensive line makes him a good replacement for Laremy Tunsil. The Athletic and ESPN have pointed out Josh Simmons of Ohio State as a potential selection for the H-Town. He is likely to become a long-term player for the team from the 2026 season since Houston has signed Cam Robinson only to a one-year deal.

Guard

NFL projects the Texans to go for Tyler Booker of Alabama because of his strength. According to USA Today, the Senior Bowl standout, Grey Zabel, is a possible pick for the Houston Texans as they look to build their guard protection for quarterback C. J. Stroud. Meanwhile, ESPN believes that adding a guard to the unit is a sensible decision and not an attention-grabbing pick. Hence, the individual who fits the criteria of a guard who has the potential to kick outside to tackle is Donovan Jackson from Ohio State.

Wide receiver

The Houston Chronicle reports that Tank Dell's knee injury in 2024 has put a question mark on his long-term status. While Dell undergoes recovery, it will be in the Texans' best interest to stock their wide receiver list. With Nico Collins unable to play an entire season for the past two years, it has become even more salient for Houston to look for young alternatives. Texans Wire and ESPN have reported Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State as a potential pick who could essentially help Stroud.
