Patrick Mahomes is the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL as of February 2025. He was selected by the Chiefs with the 10th overall in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. According to Spotrac, he signed a 10-year, $450,000,000 contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. Mahomes is a three-time Super Bowl champion, two-time NFL MVP, and 2018 Offensive Player of the Year. He has also earned two First-Team All-Pro honors, one Second-Team All-Pro selection, and six Pro Bowl appearances from 2018 to 2023.

Patrick Mahomes' football career first started while he was in Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. As per his college profile, his football stats read 4,619 passing yards, 50 passing touchdowns, 948 rushing yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns in his senior year. He was rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals and he committed to attend Texas Tech as his college.

As one of the top recruits in the country after high school, Patrick Mahomes decided to attend Texas Tech University and play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team. He got a chance to play for the team as a starter in his freshman year since their starter got injured. According to Sports Reference, Mahomes played in seven games, completing 105 of 185 passes for 1,547 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions.

In 2015, as a sophomore, he played 13 games, throwing for 4,653 yards with 364 completions on 573 attempts, along with 36 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

In his junior year in 2016, he played 12 games, completing 388 of 591 passes for 5,052 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Across his college career, Mahomes totaled 11,252 passing yards, 93 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions, as per Sports Reference.
