WWE Main Event results

WWE Main Event took place in Atlanta, Georgia as a part of the go-home programming schedule for the Payback pay-per-view. The roster for the show included Cody Rhodes and Curtis Axel who were involved in one-on-one action while Eric Rowan and Luke Harper battled against The Usos in a tag-team match. Damien Sandow came out impersonating a rapper and Natalya faced Brie Bella in a Divas match.

Here are the results from the show.

Cody Rhodes vs Curtis Axel

Cody Rhodes and Rybaxel kicked off the show with Goldust and Ryback at ringside. The angle was developed on WWE.com after Cody Rhodes and Goldust were bullied backstaged by Rybaxel for their loss against Randy Orton and Batista. The action was fast-paced since the bell rang and both the superstars had their spells during the encounter. Cody ten-punched Axel on the corner ropes but Axel gained momentum after hitting Cody with a neckbreaker. Cody had the initiative after hitting the Moonsault but was interferred by Ryback. Goldust pulled Ryback out but he got shoved onto the barricade. Cody hit Ryback with a Disaster Kick and knocked him off the apron. However, the distraction allowed Axel to chop block Cody’s knee and snatch a victory.

Winner: Curtis Axel

R-Truth vs Damien Sandow

After an unattractive Magneto disguise and failed impersonation of Sherlock Holmes in the UK, Damien Sandow took on the role of a rapper as he entered the ring with an Adidas track suit, a backwards ball cap and a chain with roll of duct tape hanging from it. R-Truth was puzzled on watching ‘D-sizzle’ rap terribly and he tried to talk some sense into him. But Sandow started talking trash and a provoked R-Truth slapped him. Truth hit the STFO and pinned Sandow to pick up a win.

Winner: R-Truth

Brie Bella vs Natalya

A tensed Brie Bella entered the ring after a backstage conversation with her sister Nikki Bella. She was up against birthday girl Natalya who was warmly welcomed with birthday chants from the crowd. They mat wrestled early on and neither really gained the advantage until Brie took over and hit a missile dropkick off the second rope. Brie did a single leg and rolled through into a half crab like Lance Storm. Natalya reversed into a sharpshooter and Brie tapped out. It was a good win for Natalya heading into her NXT Takeover match against WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s daughter, Charlotte.

Winner: Natalya

The Usos vs Eric Rowan and Luke Harper

It was a non-title match and Bray Wyatt accompanied his disciples, Eric Rowan and Luke Harper to the ring, as they were up against John Cena’s allies, The Usos. The Usos started the match wildly as they needed to subdue the Wyatts before they could start dictating the proceedings. And that is what exactly happened as Rowan and Harper started to dominate Rikishi’s sons. The momentum shifted after Jey managed to tag his brother Jimmy. But all that ended in vain when Luke Harper’s vicious Clothesline killed off the match. The post-match assault on The Usos continued as Bray Wyatt made his intentions clear to John Cena before their encounter at Payback.
