Cody Zeller

Cody Zeller is an American center who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA. He plays as a back-up big man for the Pelicans and is known for his fundamentally strong post-up game.

Zeller's basketball journey began at Washington High School in Washington, Indiana where he was named Indiana Mr. Basketball. Zeller then played two years of college ball at Indiana University, averaging an impressive 16.1 points and 7.6 rebounds. He was nicknamed “The Big Handsome” at the IU.

In the 2013 NBA Draft, Cody Zeller was selected fourth overall by the Charlotte Hornets, where he became a franchise center, spending a total eight seasons. He is the youngest sibling in a talented basketball lineage, following in the footsteps of his accomplished older brothers, former North Carolina and NBA center Tyler Zeller, and former Notre Dame standout and Phoenix Suns forward-center Luke Zeller. Despite the pressure of continuing family legacy in the NBA, Cody exceeded the expectations, and carved out a fabulous NBA career that surpassed even the achievements of his older siblings.

Currently with the New Orleans Pelicans, Cody Zeller has become a bench player. He has accepted the role of locker room leader, and in the 2023/24 season, Zeller is averaging just 1.8 points in 8.3 minutes per game.
