Jack McVeigh is an Australian basketball player who signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets on July 25, 2024. He also plays for their G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers as of November 2024. Born on June 27, 1996, in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, McVeigh grew up in Cabarita Beach. He attended The Southport School and played for the North Gold Coast Seahawks. He graduated from Lake Ginninderra College in Canberra in 2014.
McVeigh played two seasons for the BA Centre of Excellence in the South East Australian Basketball League. He later played college basketball at the University of Nebraska (2015–2018), where he emerged as the team’s sixth man during his sophomore year. In 78 games over three seasons, he averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds while playing 17.6 minutes per game. A reduction in playing time during his junior year led to his departure from the team. From 2018 to 2024, McVeigh played professionally in the NBL, Germany, and other international leagues. On joining the NBA, he became the first player to wear jersey number 58, which reflects the sum of the numbers he wore in his collegiate, NBL, and international careers.
