Jamal Murray is a Canadian basketball Point guard who plays for the Denver Nuggets as of May 2025. Murray attended the Grand River Collegiate Institute in Kitchener, Ontario, but later transferred to Orangeville Prep. At Orangeville Prep, Murray and future NBA player Thon Maker led their team to victory over many American teams. In his senior year, Murray participated in the 2015 BioSteel All-Canadian Basketball Game and was named the MVP.

He played one season of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats during the 2015-16 season. During his lone season at Kentucky, Murray was named to the Third-team All-American, First-Team All-SEC, and SEC All-Freshman Team. After his freshman year, Murray declared for the 2016 NBA draft. The Denver Nuggets drafted Jamal Murray with the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NBA draft.
