Although Nance began his career as a point guard, he transitioned to playing power forward in his senior year of high school, averaging 18.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game. He played college basketball at The University of Wyoming from 2011 to 2015, averaging 11.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 123 games in his four-year college career.
