Muscala's leadership led the Bison to an NCAA tournament appearance, and he became Bucknell's all-time leading scorer with 2,036 points, surpassing Al Leslie's 32-year record. He was also second in blocks (271) and rebounds (1093) for Bucknell. As a result, the college his jersey number (31), making him the third player in school history to receive this honor.

In the 2013 NBA Draft, Muscala was selected in the second round with the 44th overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks. Throughout his NBA career, Muscala has played for the seven teams as of May 2024. He is recognized for his versatility as a big man who can play as a stretch four or stretch five due to his proficiency as a knockdown shooter.

One of the memorable highlights of Muscala's career includes his amazing shooting performance against the LA Lakers on February 7, 2023, where he connected four out of six from beyond the 3-point line. He delivered some clutch threes in the game in which LeBron James broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time points record.
