Born on September 17, 1999, Udoka Azubuike is a professional basketball player who plays as a backup center for the Phoenix Suns. Azubuike’s basketball journey began in Lagos, Nigeria, and he later received a scholarship to play at the school level in the US. He played high school basketball for Potter’s House Christian Academy. He then played for the University of Kansas for four seasons before declaring for the draft.


As a member of the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team, Azubuike secured multiple individual accolades such as NABC Defensive Player of the Year and Big 12 Player of the Year. He also holds the NCAA record for highest field goal percentage (74.6%).


In the 2020 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz selected Azubuike with the 27th overall pick. After three seasons with the Jazz, he signed a two-way contract with the Suns.
