Commentary

Right then! South Africa are definitely a force to reckon with in the T20 World Cup as they won 4 out of the last five matches. But let's stop thinking too ahead now. The mega-tournament is still far away and South Africa's next focus will be on the Test series against England, which starts on 17th August at the iconic Lords.

For Ireland, they are on a losing streak despite agonisingly coming close to tasting success in most of the matches. They host Afghanistan in a 5-match T20 series and it's starting next week. Already, there is too much Cricket and plenty more to come tomorrow as well, with two women's semi-finals and the fourth T20 match between India and the West Indies. David Miller (South Africa captain): I had back spasms, got some treatment before the match and was ready to go. It's always a good problem to have going to the world cup. The guys have always stood up and it's great to see them playing well. Obviously, it's nice to continue as a captain. It's a nice challenge and I am enjoying it. Yes, with the way we have played in the last 18 months have been phenomenal and definitely, we are a force in the World cup but T20 is a different format and there are also a lot of good teams competing as well

Andy Balbirine (Ireland Captain) : Probably, wasn't close as the scoreboard suggested. Good knock from Mccarty. The spinners bowled well in the middle overs but Miller and Klaasen batted well and in the end, they cashed in and scored a great total. We need to look back and learn a couple of things as we got a 5-match series against Afghanistan. We haven't played them in many years in T20's, so just have to use the opportunities that we get in an effective way. Looking forward to the series

Reeza Hendricks (Player of the Series): I came close to the half-century in the last match and I am happy to contribute with a win. Try to keep them as simple as possible. Just play my game and don't try anything complicated. We are not thinking too far ahead and eventually, end result will definitely follow

Wayne Parnell, Player of the Match: I tried to just keep things simple. We had some plans coming into this match, but first of all, credit to the batters, they did really well to get us to 180+, it was a decent total. For me, it might sound cliched, I just try to keep things really simple, coming into the series and do what's required, trying to play a role. Everyone's success is enjoyed by each member of the squad, there's healthy competition among the squad, which is a good thing going into the World Cup.

A commanding performance from the visitors as they seal the series 2-0. Three batters getting out for a duck in the top five didn't help Ireland's cause as they suffered a big defeat. Wayne Parnell's fifer and that stunning catch from de Kock were one of the highlights of the chase

Well, Andy Balbirine and Lorcan Tucker fell in consecutive deliveries off Wayne Parnell before Paul Stirling took on the left-arm seamer and smacked him for a couple of boundaries and a six. Stirling got the start but didn't stay longer as Ngidi dismissed him with a well-disguised slow delivery.

Then Campher and Tector stitched a good partnership but the asking rate was climbing more than 12, and South Africa always stayed ahead of the game. Parnell got rid of both set batters before getting a fifer, all thanks to a goalkeeper-esque catch from Quinton de Kock. Then when it looked South Africa are going to bundle out Ireland for below 100 runs, Barry McCarthy played a fabulous cameo and entertained the crowd with big shots. McCarthy and Little added 42 runs for the last wicket before Pretorious got rid of the former in the 19th over

Alright! The crowd got entertained for 10-15 minutes or so, all thanks to an entertaining cameo from Barry McCarthy. But his knock only helped the team to reduce the deficit of the defeat

Not sure whether the loud noise from the crowd distracted Maharaj on that occasion. That was a regulation catch and looked like he hurt something, but from South Africa's point of view, nothing is serious.

18.5 Dwaine Pretorius to Barry McCarthy, OUT, caught! That's the match and the series, South Africa wrap things up by 44 runs and sweep the series 2-0! Slower ball, pitched up, McCarthy chips this one towards the long mid-wicket boundary, where Markram takes the simplest of catches having run in from the boundary!

And to make matters worse for himself, Maharaj seems to have done some damage to himself. Slower, back of a length ball, McCarthy flat bats this towards long-on but the connection wasn't quite right. Maharaj did just about everything right, got to the ball, but the ball burst past his wrist and hit him on the groin.
