Dak Prescott

The veteran starting quarterback Dak Prescott plays for the Dallas Cowboys franchise in the NFL. Prescott has had a mixed run with the Cowboys. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Prescott was never expected to start for the team immediately. He was looked at as the backup or even the third-string quarterback as Tony Romo was a well-established veteran for the Cowboys. But, as luck would have it, Romo got injured in the preseason and Prescott was able to climb the ranks in the team to become the team’s rookie starter for the 2016 season.

Off the field, Dak has been a model citizen, to say the least. As a matter of fact, Prescott was given the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award this past year in honor of his philanthropic work in 2022. Through his Faith Fight Finish Foundation (FFF), Prescott is reaching out and lending his voice over important social issues in the community.

Dak Prescott Age

The starting signal caller for the Cowboys, Dak Prescott is 31 years old. He was born on July 23, 1993, in Sulphur, Louisiana. Having turned 31, he still has many good years of football left in him. He was born to Nathaniel and Peggy Prescott and was the youngest of their three children. Being a resident of Louisiana, Prescott attended Haughton High School in Haughton, Louisiana and was a member of the Buccaneers football team. He had a good senior year as he posted excellent numbers both passing and running the ball. In the process, he led his team to the 2010 District 1-AAAA Championship.

Dak Prescott College

Regarded as a three-star recruit, Dak Prescott had offers from many universities such as Louisiana Tech, LSU, Memphis, etc., but he chose to go to Mississippi State University on a scholarship. In 2011, he didn’t get a chance to play and redshirted his freshman year, but the next year he played in 12 games with limited snaps. In 2013, he was again the backup quarterback but got the chance to start a few games due to an injury to the starter. A fine performance on his part earned him the MVP of the Liberty Bowl against the Rice Owls football team.

From 2014, he retained the starting role for the next two years. Along the way, he broke multiple school records and won accolades as well as coming very close to winning important awards such as the Heisman Trophy, the Davey O'Brien Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, and the Manning Award. After his four years at Mississippi State, Prescott became the third-highest in SEC history in total yards, and fourth in total touchdowns.

At the time of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Cowboys were looking for a solid backup quarterback for their starter Tony Romo which led to Prescott's selection in the fourth round.
