5 WWE Superstars who help in putting others over

Despite some wrestlers being good in the ring, they aren't always handled in the same manner as the rest of the roster. When new talents debut with the company, certain stars are usually chosen as the first feuds due owing to the former's spectacular ability to be a base for the Superstar's offense and the ability to carry the match.

Shinsuke Nakamura's first opponent in NXT was Sami Zayn only because Zayn was solid in the ring. He had the ability to help anyone adjust to the WWE style both before and during the match.

Stars like AJ Styles, Ricochet, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro and Seth Rollins are all great in-ring workers, but not everyone mentioned above has been given the same place on the card. While Daniel Bryan has been WWE Champion on more than one occasion, he often puts over more Superstars than seeing himself go up the ladder.

The same can be said for Cesaro whereas the likes of Ricochet, Styles and Rollins aren't usually put in the position to put a lot of wrestlers over. While not everyone can do what the likes of Bryan and Cesaro do, they aren't the only popular Superstars who are so good in the ring that they are often putting others over.

Here are five wrestlers in WWE who are known to put over other wrestlers.

#5 Samoa Joe

When Samoa Joe initially joined the main roster, he feuded with Seth Rollins on the behalf of Triple H. When all was said and done, Rollins won the feud. Although Joe has always been seen as threatening and dangerous, he has often fallen in his main pursuits for the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship.

He won the US Championship but lost it quickly, as he failed in a battle against Ricochet. It was the One and Only's first title win on the main roster in a career that isn't even a year old. That win was a prime example of Joe being so trusted and versed in the ring that he's valued more for his ability to make others look good by taking the loss.

It might be frustrating for some stars to be put in that position, but the worst position would be having no value to the company. Joe is so technically sound that he makes everyone he faces look good. He doesn't always get soundly defeated, instead often losing via roll-up. It's the best way to keep him looking strong in defeat.

#4 Sami Zayn

It does seem like Sami Zayn hasn't won a match since coming back after WrestleMania 35. While it has lined up with his character's motivations of chastising the crowd, he does need to win some matches in order to be taken seriously.

But whether he's been a good guy or a bad guy, Zayn has often been used to make others look really good. It's part of the reason why he has been used in prominent storylines like against Braun Strowman and when teaming with Kevin Owens against Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon.

More recently, he's been the one making the likes of Aleister Black and Cedric Alexander look good in their respective matches. Neither of those men need to be walked through a match, but they are in their first runs on the main roster. Stars like Zayn are instrumental in helping those like Black and Alexander look believable when the are introduced to the WWE Universe.

#3 Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler is a master at the art of selling in professional wrestling. It's an understated part of the business that helps to truly make moves look real and believable.

If someone never sells the moves of their opponents, it decreases the match's quality. There's even a meme floating around saying that Ziggler sold a pair of shoes to Zac Gowen. If you don't know, Gowen has only one leg.

The Showoff has been used in feuds with Tyler Breeze, Baron Corbin and almost every debuting star over the last five years. His ability between the ropes is so immaculate that he was the one who made Goldberg look good at SummerSlam. Helping along some yesteryear stars and returning veterans is also something that guys like Ziggler are trusted to do.

Ziggler's ability might be frustrating if you are a fan of his style and want him to be consistently chasing world titles. But because he is arguably the best seller currently in WWE, he is relegated to leading the dance with most stars. His recent tag team win with Robert Roode might be a reward for all of his work at putting others over.

# 2 Cesaro

Just like Ziggler and Zayn, Cesaro has long been in the role of putting newer stars over due to his amazing ability to carry a match. While he has often been an integral part of the tag team division, his singles career has been full of amazing performances, albeit in defeat.

For recent proof of that, he had a series of matches with Ricochet right after WrestleMania. Those matches were the highlights of some episodes of RAW that were lacking. In the King of the Ring Tournament, he even put over Samoa Joe, who plays a similar role as well.

Cesaro sold brilliantly for Aleister Black as the two men had a great match at Extreme Rules, with Cesaro technically becoming Black's first dance partner on the main roster. He also provided Cedric Alexander with some great offense and defense in a match on RAW. Cesaro has long been a member of the roster that has a vocal fan base and is a well recognised Superstar.

#1 Daniel Bryan

Bryan and Murphy recently tore the house down on SmackDown.

Daniel Bryan was the WWE Champion as recently as April and it was during the feud leading up to the Show of Shows with Kofi Kingston where Bryan eventually put over his opponent. It was refreshing as Kingston had also been used in that role prior to becoming a big player with the New Day in WWE. Yet, it was understood that Bryan's eventual loss would make the feud truly memorable due to Kingston's triumph.

Even a few years ago, Bryan faced off with Roman Reigns after Reigns won the Royal Rumble to a chorus of boos. Many were actually upset that Bryan was unceremoniously dumped out of the match halfway through it. It wasn't Reigns' fault but Bryan was still in the midst of the height of his popularity. The two would have a match at Fastlane due to the fan outrage but the outcome was the same with Reigns emerging victorious.

Bryan's return from a three-year retirement was one of the most satisfying moments in the history of wrestling due to the place he has in the hearts of fans everywhere. He has had some great success as he's been both WWE Champion and SmackDown Tag Team Champion within the last year.

But one thing he does that a lot of stars don't do today is put over a lot of the younger talent. Bryan is still one of the top guys in the company and industry, but he understands that by helping out the next crop of upcoming stars, it only helps the company by building up some new talent.

He did just that when he put Ali over once he debuted on SmackDown late in 2018 and he even carried the same strategy on SmackDown a few weeks ago in an extremely entertaining match with Buddy Murphy.

Not all stars are created equal, but doing everything well often keeps a lot of wrestlers around. Bryan just happens to be one of the most popular stars in history who isn't afraid to pass the buck to other stars.
