Since the fall of former starting quarterback Deshaun Watson in 2020, the Houston Texans had been on a downward spiral until last season when their Offensive Rookie of the Year and number two overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft C.J. Stroud took over the offensive duties for the team.

Stroud along with newly hired head coach DeMeco Ryans completely turned around the Texans franchise and with the help of other key members of the team took them to the postseason by clinching the AFC South.

But while all that is now in the past, fans will be excited to see what is in store in the upcoming 2024-25 NFL season especially now that the Houston Texans Schedule has been released. There are quite a few extraordinary games for the Texans this season especially given that they will be facing some top teams from the AFC East and the NFC North divisions as per the NFL’s rotation policy.

The Houston Texans football schedule for the 2024 NFL season has also revealed that the team will be playing in no less than four primetime games with three of them all coming consecutively in weeks 09-11.

Houston Texans Key Games 2024-25

The Houston Texans play in the AFC South division with the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Tennessee Titans. The AFC South has various rivalries as is the case in all other divisions in the NFL. However, some of the key games of the Texans this season will feature teams from other divisions, primarily the aforementioned, AFC East and the NFC North.

Week 2 - September 15, 2024 - Houston Texans vs. Chicago Bears

This week 2 game between the Texans and the Chicago Bears promises to be a grand one. It is set at the Sunday Night Football (SNF) primetime slot with the most interesting storyline featuring the offenses of both sides. C.J. Stroud and his receiving core will go up against Caleb Williams and his plethora of attacking options.

On the other side of the ball, both teams have decent defenses as well. Therefore, this game should be a fun one to watch.

Week 10 - November 10, 2024 - Houston Texans vs. Detroit Lions

The Houston Texans 2024 schedule includes two SNF games and this one in week 10 is against the Detroit Lions. This game should be an interesting one as both teams are fairly well-balanced. The Lions may have the upper hand in this matchup but whatever advantage they have should not make a significant amount of difference.

Week 11 - November 18, 2024 - Houston Texans @ Dallas Cowboys

The Texans' next primetime game is a Monday Night Football game as they make the short trip to Arlington, Texas to face off against the other Texas-based team, the Dallas Cowboys. In a battle for supremacy in the same state, this matchup pits two strong teams against one another and their tussle should make for a thrilling encounter.

Week 16 - December 21, 2024 - Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs

Quite possibly the biggest game on the Houston Texans football schedule in 2024-25 will be the week 16 clash in Arrowhead against the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. This will also be the first time last year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud goes toe-to-toe with last year’s Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes. If this game becomes a shootout, then the NFL world is in for a real treat.

Week 17 - December 25, 2024 - Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Texans have got themselves a Christmas Day game in 2024 against the Baltimore Ravens in week 17. Not only will this game be important for the respective fan bases during the holiday season, but it could also have vital implications this late in the season. If one or both of these teams are battling for a playoff spot or playoff seedings, then both teams will be giving it their all.

The Houston Texans play all of their home games at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Being the newest franchise of the NFL, the Texans have been playing at this stadium since only 2002. This stadium has a seating capacity of slightly over 70,000 but can be expanded to 80,000 for special events.

As per the Houston Texans football schedule, their games will be telecast on various channels especially since they will be playing on different days of the week in primetime.
