Born on March 5, 1990, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States, Mason Plumlee is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA. He won the gold medal with Team USA at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The center’s basketball journey began at Christ School in Arden, North Carolina, where he led his team to three North Carolina High School Athletic Association state championships. As a senior, Plumlee averaged 15.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game. He was named the 2009 McDonald's All-American and the North Carolina Mr. Basketball in 2009.

Plumlee then played college basketball for Duke University, where he won the NCAA championship in 2010. In four seasons in college, Plumlee averaged 9.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in 141 appearances.

Plumlee was selected with the 22nd overall pick by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2013 NBA Draft. In his first season with the Nets, he averaged 7.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game in 70 appearances, and was named on the NBA All-Rookie First Team, becoming the first Brooklyn Nets player since Brook Lopez (2008–09) to earn such honors.
