Jeremiah "JJ" J'veon Pegues is an American football defensive tackle for the Ole Miss Rebels. He played previously with the Auburn Tigers during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Pegues was among 329 draft prospects invited to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. There, he registered a 40-yard dash of 5.15 seconds and a 10-yard split of 1.82 seconds. JJ Pegues is a native of Oxford, Mississippi, and attended Oxford High School, where he played under coach Chris Cutcliffe. As a senior in 2019, he led the Oxford Chargers to a Class 6A state championship. A four-star prospect, Pegues was named to the 2019 Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen (as per his Ole Miss college roster page). Pegues started his college career at Auburn University in 2020 as a tight end, playing 24 games across two seasons. As a freshman, he recorded seven receptions for 57 yards, according to Ole Miss athletics. He moved to Ole Miss in January 2022, in his hometown of Oxford. He had 26 tackles, five for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, and a receiving touchdown that season. In 2023, starting in 12 of 13 games. He posted career highs of 42 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and four pass breakups. Before the 2024 season, Pegues was selected as the Chucky Mullins Courage Award recipient.
