Donovan “Spida” Mitchell is a professional basketball player who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA as of March 2025. He was the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets. He was then traded to the Utah Jazz for Tyler Lydon, the 24th pick, and Trey Lyles. He made it to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in his rookie season and won the Slam Dunk contest in 2018. After playing for six seasons with the Utah Jazz, Mitchell was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the 2022-23 season, Mitchell has the season high, he hit his record high of 71 points against the Chicago Bulls. Throughout the season, he averaged 28.3 points with 4.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. He also shot 44.8% from the field, which includes 36.5% from the deep. With his help, the Cavaliers earned their first 50 wins in a season after 1993 without LeBron James on their roster. He also joined Allen Iverson in scoring more than 30 points in 20 of his first 40 playoff appearances for the Cavaliers.

In the season 2023-24, Mitchell averaged 26.6 points, 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game, leading the team to the playoffs. However, they lost in the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference. In the 2024-25 season, Donovan Mitchell is leading the Cavaliers to another playoff run, along with Darius Garland and Evan Mobley. As of March 2025, the Cavaliers are already 51-10 in the regular season and are on an 11-game winning streak.
