Jason Kidd

Jason Kidd is a renowned NBA head coach known for his defensive acumen and most importantly, his impact on the sport of Basketball. Born on March 23rd, 1973, in San Francisco, California, Kidd began his basketball journey by attending the St. Joseph Notre Dame High School.

Kidd's passion for basketball took shape at SJND as it didn't take long for him to dominate his competition with his skills on the court and this captured the attention of basketball media within both local and national basketball circles. As a standout 6’4 point guard, Jason led his high school team to back-to-back state championships in 1991 and 1992.

Following a stellar high school career, Kidd committed to the University of California-Berkeley (UC Berkeley) over offers from Kentucky, Ohio State, UCLA, and Arizona among others.

In his four years playing for UC Berkeley, he was selected as a first-team All-American, Pac-12 All-Freshman, 1992-93 Pac-10 rookie of the year, and 1993-94 Pac-10 player of the year while leading his team to consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.

After playing nineteen seasons in the NBA, Kidd wasted little time in choosing his next venture after retirement from active competition and became the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.

Jason Kidd Contract Details

Jason Kidd is currently midway on a four-year deal he signed with the Dallas Mavericks in June of 2021. Kidd replaced former long-time Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle who guided the franchise to an NBA title in 2011 which included Kidd who played a key role in bringing home the team’s first-ever championship.

In his first year as the head coach of the Mavericks, Kidd coached the team to 52 regular season wins and led them to the Western Conference finals where Dallas lost the series to eventual champions Golden States Warriors one game to four (1-4).

Before taking the head coaching job at Dallas, Kidd served two years as assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. When Kidd was brought into the Lakers coaching staff in 2019, his contract made him the highest-paid assistant coach in the NBA, as claimed by sources at the time.

Nonetheless, his involvement with the team played an important role in the Lakers winning their 17th NBA title in 2020.

Kidd has also served as head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets. Kidd became the Bucks head coach after he was acquired in exchange for two second-round picks after just one season of leading the Nets to a 44-38 finish.

Jason Kidd Salary

The former 6’4 Point guard is reportedly earning about eight million dollars as the Mavericks head coach.
