Joel Hans Embiid is a Cameroonian-American professional basketball player who plays center for the Philadelphia 76ers as of the 2024 NBA season. Embiid moved to Florida and attended Montverde Academy when he was 16 years old to play high school basketball. He joined the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team, which represents the University of Kansas after completing high school. Embiid played 28 games in his freshman year, averaging 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team in 2014.
