Kristaps Porzingis

Hailing from the small town of Liepāja in Latvia, no one could have imagined that Kristaps Porzingis would one day become one of the best European players in the NBA. By the time Porzingis received an offer from the Liga ACB’s Real Betis, he stood 6 feet 8 inches tall and signed with the team in the summer of 2010.

Porzingis perfectly fit the requirements of what the team desired and despite initial struggles due to health issues, he quickly became an impact player for the team. In his final season with Real Betis, Porzingis averaged 10.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and one block per game before moving to the United States. Luck favored Porzingis as he got picked fourth overall by the New York Knicks in the 2015 NBA Draft and signed a lucrative four-year $18.6 million rookie deal with the franchise.

Since then, he has played for the Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, and is currently playing for the Boston Celtics.
