Mohamed Bamba, widely known as Mo Bamba, is an American-Ivorian professional basketball player who plays for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA.

Born on May 12, 1998, in Harlem, New York, to Lancine Bamba and Aminata Johnson, both immigrants from the Ivory Coast, Bamba was recognized as a five-star recruit during his time at the University of Texas. At the 2018 NBA combine, he was measured at 7 feet (2.16 meters) tall with an impressive wingspan of 7 feet 10 inches (2.39 meters). His massive wingspan broke the NBA record previously held by Rudy Gobert. (Bamba’s record was later broken by Tacko Fall).

Bamba’s impressive physical measurements led to him being selected with the sixth overall pick by the Orlando Magic in the 2018 NBA Draft. However, despite his remarkable physical attributes, Bamba faced challenges in translating them to on-court success. Criticized for a perceived lack of basketball IQ at the NBA level and a poor feel for the game, he has struggled during his six seasons in the NBA.

Now with the 76ers, Bamba aims to revive his career and make a significant impact on the court.
