Payton Pritchard is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Boston Celtics in the NBA. Pritchard has experienced success from a very young age. He won four straight state titles with West Linn High School while winning the 2014 and 2015 Todd Pratt Player of the Year. As a sophomore, Pritchard was named to the second-team all-conference for the Pac-12. He was also a finalist for the Naismith Trophy in his senior year. Pritchard finished his high school career averaging 22 points and 5.8 assists as a junior and 23.6 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.1 steals as a senior. Pritchard was a consensus four-star recruit and decided to stay home, committing to the Oregon Ducks.

Pritchard slowly worked his way up the ladder for the Ducks, and by his junior season, he was one of the centrepieces of the team. Pritchard finished the season averaging 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists a game while also leading the Ducks to an improbable Pac-12 championship. In his junior season, the Oregon Ducks were eliminated in the Sweet 16. By the time his senior season rolled around, Pritchard was one of the best players in the country, averaging 20.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists a game. He was also named the Pac-12 Player of the Year. Pritchard was a consensus All-American selection and was given the Bob Cousy Award as the nation’s best point guard.
