Bogdan Bogdanovic is a Serbian professional basketball player who is currently playing for the Atlanta Hawks. The lethal shooter signed a four-year $70 million contract with the Hawks in March 2023.
Born on August 18, 1992, in Belgrade, Serbia, Bogdanovic was a basketball prodigy. At just 16 years old, he started playing with local basketball club Zitko Basket (formerly Alimenti Basket). Under the guidance of coach Dragan Jakovljevic, Bogdanovic was a key part of Zitko Basket's successful run in the 2009/10 Junior Serbian League as they secured third place finish.
In May 2010, Bogdanović got the opportunity to play for the Nike International Junior Tournament (NIJT) in Paris for KK FMP. This was the tournament when Bogi truly broke out as the young phenom from Serbia. In a tough competition from teams like KK Split, Treviso, and Málaga, Bogdanović led KK FMP to advance to the final. In a must-win game against Malaga, Bogdanović rose to the occasion, delivering a clutch buzzer-beater to secure victory with 21 points and six rebounds.
However, an unfortunate injury during the final game against INSEP made Bogdanović leave the game mid-way, but overall, his impact was felt throughout the tournament as he showcased his offensive talent, leadership and resilience on the court.
This great learning curve in his teenage years, made Bogi the player he is today. He went on to have a successful career in Europe where he won several personal accolades as well as winning the Euroleague championship. Soon, the NBA came calling and he joined the Sacramento Kings in 2017.
