Dean Wade is an American professional basketball player who plays as a backup power forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Born on November 20, 1996, in Wichita, Kansas, Wade played for St. John High School, where he won three state championships. Before his NBA career, Wade played four seasons of college ball at Kansas State, where he made the first-team All-Big 12 twice. He averaged 12.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in college and led his team to the Big 12 regular season championship in his senior season. After going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, Wade was signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers on a two-way contract. He spent most of his rookie season in the G League playing for the Canton Charge, averaging 14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds on 46.1% shooting from the field. In July 2020, Wade signed a multi-year deal with the Cavs.

In the 2023/24 season, Wade made career-high starts (32), and averaged 5.2 points and 3.4 rebounds. He led the Cavs to the victory over the Boston Celtics in the regular season, scoring 20 points on 5-5 from deep in the fourth quarter. He became the fifth Cavs player in history to score 20 points in the fourth quarter. Wade had his career high in points against The Cavs on March 5, 2024, with 23 points.

Dean Wade’s mother, Trish Wade, was a star player in high school and college. She was also included in the Barton County Community College Sports Hall of Fame for both sports. She was an All-American in 1985/86, leading the team to 111 victories during her career and multiple top-four finishes at the NJCAA tournament.

Trish Wade transferred to Florida Southern in 1987 and was a second-team All-American as a junior. She also made the All-Sunshine State conference twice in her career, ranking in the top 10 in five career and nine single-season categories with the school. After her playing career, Trish became a volleyball coach at St. John-Hudson. In 2008, she led the team to a first-place finish at the 1A state.
