Dwight Harlan Powell is a Canadian professional basketball player who plays for the Dallas Mavericks. Standing at 6 feet 10 inches tall, Powell is versatile and can play both as a center and power forward.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, to a Canadian father and Jamaican mother, Powell developed his basketball skills at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He then moved on to play college basketball at Stanford for four seasons from 2010 to 2014. In college, Powell earned accolades such as two First-team All-Pac-12 selections in 2013 and 2014, as well as the Pac-12 Most Improved Player award in 2013.

In the 2014 NBA Draft, Powell was selected with the 45th overall pick by the Charlotte Hornets but was quickly traded to the Boston Celtics. He was later traded to the Dallas Mavericks along with All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo.

Throughout his career spanning over a decade with the Mavs, Powell has transitioned from being a backup to a starter for many seasons before returning to a backup role in the 2023-24 season. Despite this shift, he remains an important rotational piece for the Mavericks. Powell is known for his fundamentally strong game, particularly his offensive post-up game near the rim. He also has a great basketball IQ and his understanding of the pick-and-roll game translates well with his guards.
