Turner played at Trinity High School, where his talents earned him the status of a five-star player. Later, as a freshman at the University of Texas in the 2014/15 season, Tuner made a significant impact, averaging 10.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game. His stellar performance earned him the prestigious title of 2015 Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
