Since 2019, the Bermuda Championship, an annual men's golf tournament on the PGA Tour, has taken place at Bermuda's Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton Parish. It is currently a full-field FedEx Cup event that draws elite players and offers significant prize money.

Seamus Power won the 2022 tournament by defeating Thomas Detry with a single stroke. Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton Parish, Bermuda, was designed by Robert Trent Jones during the 2020 season.

The tournament's prize pool was increased from US$4 million in 2020 to US$6.5 million in 2021 and 2022, with support from Butterfield Bank and the Bermuda Tourism Board, co-title sponsors. Looking ahead, the Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda, will host the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship from November 6–12.

Originally scheduled as a backup event for the WGC-HSBC Champions, the prize fund was US$3,000,000 in its first year. The tournament underwent changes in subsequent editions due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. It was elevated to a full FedEx Cup point event, and the winner received an invitation to the Masters Tournament.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship 2023 Course details

The Port Royal Golf Course, formerly known as Southampton Golf Club, is located in Southampton, Bermuda. It is located in Southampton Parish and was founded in 1965 under the guidance of Mr. Reginald Tucker.

The idea, however, was in danger because part of the area was formerly farmland and because one owner refused to sell their land to the course. On December 1, 1967, construction finally commenced on the project, and it was given the name Port Royal Golf Course.

The original layout was repeatedly changed due to land deals, but the new 16th hole, with its tee and green perched on cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, is now a well-known and much-photographed hole.

The course was eventually completed and launched in 1970. More recently, it underwent renovations to get ready for the 2009 PGA Grand Slam of Golf. The course reopened on July 21, 2009, under the direction of Roger Rulewich, a member of the original design team.
