He has also played for the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA previously. Hart was born on March 6, 1995, in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States. Hart was drafted in the first round of the 2017 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz with the 30th overall pick but was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. In the 2024-25 NBA season, he has appeared in 77 games, scoring 1,051 points, grabbing 737 rebounds and dishing out 453 assists, making it one of his best stats in a single season.
Josh Hart won the Senior CLASS Award, the Julius Erving Award, and the Robert V. Geasey Trophy in 2017 while playing for Villanova University, where he also won the 2016 NCAA championship. In his college career, he averaged 13.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
