LaMelo LaFrance Ball is a point guard for the Charlotte Hornets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Hornets drafted Ball with the third overall pick in 2020. He is notable for being the NBA Rookie of the Year and also a member of the NBA All-Rookie First Team in the 2020/21 season.

In the 2022/23 season, Ball played 35 games with the Hornets, averaging 23.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 8.4 assists, 1.3 steals per game. He shot 41.1% from the field, including 37.6% from deep. In this same season, he achieved 1000 points, 1000 rebounds and 1000 assists in his career and is the second youngest player to do so after LeBron James. Unfortunately for Ball, an injury to his right ankle sidelined him for the rest of the season.

Having signed a five-year $205.9 million Designated Rookie extended contract with the Hornets in July 2023, LaMelo is geared up for the 2023/24 season.

Tina Ball (nee Slatinsky) is the mother of LaMelo Ball. She had an impressive basketball career at California State University, Los Angeles where she met her husband. She has also worked as the athletic director of Vernon Middle School for 24 years and in the family owned company - Big Baller Band, as a co-founder and designer.

Unfortunately for her, she suffered a stroke in 2017, which resulted in her suffering from aphasia. However, she managed to regain her speech through the support of her family. LaMelo Ball acknowledges her as the person who keeps the family connected together.

LaVar Christopher Ball is the father of LaMelo Ball. He is a former football player, having played for the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers (NFL) and London Monarchs (WLAF). He is now an entrepreneur who founded the company Big Baller Brand. He was also the founder of the Junior Basketball League (JBL) which is extinct now. He is also popular for his outspoken nature especially his issues with former US President Donald Trump.
