When we hear the name Belichick and that too related to the NFL, only one person pops into mind, the long time running head coach of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick. The most successful head coach in the history of the league, at least in terms of championship rings, has seen it all and done it all in his nearly five decade career in the NFL.

The 71 year old native of Nashville, Tennessee, has won a total of eight Super Bowls including two as a defensive coordinator and six as a head coach. Furthermore, being able to sustain a period of dominance for almost two whole decades requires a coach with in depth football knowledge, an intelligent mind and well strategized planning. Belichick’s career as a coach is nothing short of legendary players leaving their mark on the game and when it's all said and done, he will walk out of the league with his name etched in the history of the game.

Having said that, most people are unaware that there are two more Belichicks who have been part of the game and the Patriots franchise for a few years now. Both of them are Bill Belichick’s sons Stephen and Brian Belichcik.

Stephen Belichick is a native of Summit, New Jersey and was born on March 25, 1987. He attended the Rivers school in Massachusetts where he played on their lacrosse team. He continued his higher education as well as his lacrosse career at Rutgers University. He also joined their football team as a long snapper.

Stephen began his coaching career in the NFL when the Patriots offered him the role of a coaching assistant in 2012. He gained valuable insight and knowledge for four years before he was promoted to the safeties coach in 2016 which is also when he won his first Super Bowl.

He has since then won two more Super Bowls with the same franchise under his father at the helm. And in 2020 the team announced that Stephen would be given the role of outside linebackers coach, handing over the safeties department to his younger brother Brian.

Brian is the second son and third child of Bill Belichick. Like his older brother, Brian also attended Rivers school and played on the lacrosse and football teams. He then completed his college education from Trinity College and graduated in 2016.

He immediately became part of the Patriots franchise getting the role of a scouting assistant. He then became a coaching assistant in 2017 and held the role for the next three years. In 2020, his brother Stephen was moved to the outside linebackers coaching role, and as a result Brian was given the safeties coach position which he holds till this day.

Just recently towards the end of July 2023, Brian reportedly suffered a serious knee injury on the field due to which he didn’t take part in the rest of the training sessions. He was however present at meetings. He should be back on the field by the time the season gets underway.

Both of Bill Belichick’s sons are making steady progress and working their way up the ladder in coaching. A few years down the road the NFL may get another pair of brothers as head coaches if they continue to rise up the ranks and attain a certain level.
