Chase Young is a defensive end/edge rusher for the New Orleans Saints in the NFL. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall & weighing 264 pounds, Young was an all-around terror to defenses in college during his 3-year stint with the Ohio State Buckeyes, racking up 30.5 sacks, 9 forced fumbles, and 98 combined tackles throughout his career, which led him to conquer multiple awards & honors, as well as being selected as a finalist for the 2019 Heisman Trophy - a rare feat for a defensive player.
Young was then selected 2nd overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. He immediately shone with the Commanders, recording 7.5 sacks, 44 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, and three recoveries for 57 yards and a touchdown in the 2020 NFL season. For his performances that season, he was nominated to the PFWA All-Rookie Team, and was selected to the Pro Bowl. Additionally, he was honored with the 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Young was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in the middle of the 2023 NFL season, after suffering from a multitude of injuries that kept him from playing in several games in both the 2021 & 2022 NFL seasons. He finished the 2023 season by accumulating 7.5 sacks before signing a 1-year deal with the New Orleans Saints in 2024.
