Darnell Mooney Parents

Darnell Mooney is an American football wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL. The Chicago Bears selected Mooney as the 173rd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Mooney attended Gadsden City High School, where he played football and basketball. Mooney committed to Tulane University in 2016 for his collegiate career. At the end of his four-year collegiate career with the Tulane Green Wave, he played in 50 games, recorded 154 receptions for 2572 yards and scored 19 touchdowns.

After joining the NFL, Mooney had his career game in 2021 against the Minnesota Vikings, where he caught 12 passes for 126 yards. At the end of the 2023 NFL season, he played in 60 games, recorded 213 receptions for 2593 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. After his four-year stint with the Bears, he signed a three-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons in 2024. As of September 2024, he has started in 3 games, recorded 12 receptions for 169 yards and scored a touchdown for Falcons.

Darnell Mooney's Father

Larry Mooney, Darnell's father, was born in Chicago and played a significant role in his son's life. Despite living in Columbus, Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois, while his children were growing up, Larry maintained a close relationship with Darnell. Tragically, Larry was diagnosed with leukaemia after a workplace accident. He fought the disease for several years, receiving a bone marrow donation from Darnell's brother, Denzel. However, complications from a failed shunt filter led to Larry's passing, before Darnell's junior year of high school.
