The Browns exercised Ward's contract's fifth-year option in 2021. After signing a five-year agreement with the Browns the following season, Ward became the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.
Ward played collegiate football at Ohio State University. In 12 games as a freshman, Ward tallied seven tackles. Media members named Ward an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten during the 2016 season.
