Jahmyr Gibbs is one of the most consistent pass catchers in the Detroit Lions offense but it’s his running game that takes the majority of the spotlight. Gibbs plays as a running back for the Lions and he recorded 52 receptions, 945 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns, 316 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown in his very first NFL season.
Usually in the NFL draft, running backs are not drafted very early. Regardless, the Detroit Lions chose Gibbs as the 12th overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. Gibbs attended Dalton High School and started his season as a running back. He rushed for 897 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore and 1,431 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior. However, in his senior season, Gibbs exploded on the field recording 2,554 yards and had 40 touchdowns. Sports Illustrated labeled him First Team All-American. Due to his monstrous season, Gibbs was now a four-star recruit and got offers from colleges such as Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Michigan, North Carolina, and Texas A&M.
Gibbs remained loyal to his hometown and chose to attend Georgia Tech for two years before taking his talents to Alabama. He finished his collegiate career with 2132 rushing yards, 15 rushing TDs, 103 receptions, 1212 receiving yards, and 8 receiving TDs.

Gibbs’ biological mother is Nika Willis. However, his biological father’s name is not known. Gibbs was raised by his grandmother, Angie, and he had a difficult childhood as his biological parents were in and out of the picture.
