Jalen Hurts, the young American football quarterback, does not need an introduction, as he has established himself as a prominent figure in the league. Debuting as the third-string quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, Hurts’ expertise has elevated his position as the starting quarterback of the team.

Hurts was born in Houston, Texas on 7 August 1998. He laid the foundation of his football career at Channelview High School in Channelview, Texas, where he was personally mentored by his father. Rated as a four-star recruit during his high school years, he secured a place among the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the class of 2016. Nevertheless, Hurts was not just a football sensation at the school, additionally, he participated in powerlifting.

After high school, he initially chose to play college football at the University of Alabama, where played from 2016 to 2018, before transferring and spending his final year of eligibility at the University of Oklahoma in 2019. Subsequently, he entered the 2020 NFL Draft.

Being the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Hurts began his professional journey. He has proven his potential by leading the league numerous times and eventually guiding the Philadelphia Eagles to appear in Super Bowl LVII. However, the Eagles had to settle as the finalists, losing the Super Bowl title to the AFC champion, the Kansas City Chiefs in a 38-35 defeat. His consistent and impressive performance earned him the 2022 Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors. However, Hurts was not able to replicate his 2022 magic in 2023 season, as team went downhill after starting the season 10-1. Philly lost 5 out of their remaining last 6 games and got crushed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round, while Hurts had career-high 15 interceptions on the season. It will be fascinating to watch how Jalen hurts bounce back going into 2024 season after what happened in 2nd half of last season.

Hurts is the middle child of his parents, Averion Hurts Sr. and Pamela Hurts. The couple have three children, two sons and one daughter and they raised their children together in Channelview, Texas.

Hurts’ family consists of five members. His father, Averion Hurts, his mother, Pamela Hurts, his older brother Averion Jr., his younger sister Kynnedy and himself. Hurts’ mother was a schoolteacher at Anthony Aguirre Junior High School. It appears that sports are ingrained in their genes. His father was an athlete himself, participating in football and tracks during his college years.

Hurts' brother, having played as the starting quarterback at Texas Southern University is currently following in his father’s footsteps and serving as a college football coach at the University of Alabama. Averion Hurts Sr. is the father of Jalen Hurts. Designated as the football coach at Channelview High School, Channelview Texas, Averion had the opportunity to personally coach his sons during their formative years. During his college years at Howard Payne University, he actively participated in football and tracks. He made a name for himself, achieving All-Conference recognition as a senior offensive lineman and securing six All-American honors in track and field. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in marketing. Before eventually joining Channelview High School as a coach, he served in coaching roles at different schools.

Jalen Hurts’ mother is Pamela Hurts. She used to teach math and physical education at Anthony Aguirre Junior High School and is currently serving as the chief of the Special Services Department at Channelview. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master’s in counseling. Additionally, she provides counseling to high school students.
