Sam Hartman had two older brothers named Demitri Allison and Joe Hartman. Demitri Allison was adopted by the family when he was 15 years old and spent the latter part of his school years with them. Then he enrolled at Elon University where he played football.
Sam Hartman had a very good relationship with his adopted older brother Demitri Allison. He considered him an idol and both of them were inseparable. Unfortunately, all that ended when Demitri Allison committed suicide in 2015 by falling from a residence hall at Elon University. His death was associated with his emotional state and well-being.

Joe Hartman is another older brother of Sam Hartman who is also involved in football. To pay tribute to their deceased brother Demitri Allison, both Sam and Joe Hartman played a football game. There, while Joe Hartman played the defense and as a receiver, Sam Hartman completed 12 passes out of 18 and also made 2 touchdowns.
