Carlton Davis III is an American football cornerback for the New England Patriots in the NFL as of March 2025. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers chose him as the 63rd pick in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Davis concluded his debut season,2018, with 12 starts, 40 tackles and a forced fumble. During the 2019 season, Davis recorded a forced fumble, an interception and 60 tackles. Davis started in 14 games and had 68 tackles and four interceptions in 2020. Davis sustained a quad injury in Week 4 of the 2021 season, which placed him on the injured reserve. In 2022, he extended his contract for three years with the Buccaneers. Davis recorded 52 tackles during the 2023 season. In March 2024, for a third-round selection, the Detroit Lions traded for Davis along with two sixth-round selections. On March 13, 2025, Davis signed a three-year deal with the Patriots.

Initially, Davis committed to Ohio State University for collegiate football but later on decided to join Auburn University in 2015. At Auburn, Davis finished his rookie season with three interceptions and 56 tackles. In 2016, Davis recorded 46 tackles and ended the following junior season with an interception and 36 tackles. In January 2018, Davis declared that he would enter the NFL draft of 2018.
