Jonathan Taylor is an active American football player, currently serving as the running back for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. The Colts opted for Taylor in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. He concluded his debut season in the PFWA All-Rookie team. He was the NFL leader in rushing yards and touchdowns for the Colts in the 2021 season. Taylor was born in Salem, New Jersey, on 19 January 1999. He started playing high school football at Salem High School. In his senior year, he set a New Jersey state record for rushing yards with 2,815 yards. Additionally, he received the Jim Henry Award in the same year. However, football was not the only sport in which he excelled during high school. He also showcased his running skills in track and field, securing two state titles in the 100-meter dash.

He committed to play college football at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and consistently impressed the spectators, delivering exceptional performance throughout his college years. In his junior year, Taylor recorded 1,000 rushing yards in just 7 games, matching the FBS record for fewest games to 1,000 yards by a freshman, and he was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2017. He has achieved numerous awards and accomplishments during his collegiate career including being named a unanimous first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten, the Big Ten Running Back of the Year and securing the Doak Walker Award consecutively in 2018 and 2019. He also became the second FBS player after Troy Davis with two 2,000-yards seasons.
