Jordan Alexander Love is entering a pivotal season in his NFL career as a quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. So far primarily used as a backup to Aaron Rodgers, the former New Mexico Bowl MVP has a lot to prove this year. He was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Packers with the 26th overall pick. He initially signed a four-year rookie contract worth just a shade over $12.3 million. A little more than half of the contract was given as a signing bonus worth $6,566,148. The entire sum was guaranteed, as typical for rookie contracts, with the average annual output clocking in at $3,095,863. However, he spent the majority of that time playing second fiddle to Rodgers. Before the start of this season, he would sign an incentive-filled contract whose output could vary depending on his production.

Jordan Love came into the NFL with much fanfare. During his collegiate career at Utah State, the Bakersfield, California-born Love showcased immense potential as an NFL-level quarterback. During his 4years there, his production saw continuous increment, culminating in a spectacular 2018 season. That year, he won the New Mexico Bowl MVP for a 4-touchdown performance to lead his team to victory. That year, he also set the school record for yards in a season en route to a second-team All-MWC selection. Even then, he was slated to be a first-round pick should he choose to enter the NFL Draft. But, he chose to return to college for the 2019 campaign, putting in another solid year, before making his way to the NFL. His selection to the Green Bay Packers was widely praised.

However, over his first 3 seasons, playing time has been extremely limited for him as he serves as the backup for the legendary Aaron Rodgers. But, through sporadic appearances, Love has shown immense potential and could serve as a valuable asset to the team. After Rodgers finally decided to move on from Green Bay, instead choosing to sign with the New York Jets, the Packers embraced Love as the quarterback of the future. With the team’s responsibility on his shoulders, he enters perhaps his toughest challenge yet. Before the 2023 season, he had just 50 completions on 83 attempts, although his play did warrant some acclaim and hopefulness for the future, especially during the 2022 campaign.

Love’s current contract is worth about $13.5 million but could be subject to change based on incentives to up to $22,500,000. How much money does Jordan Love make a minute?

Jordan Love has a ton to prove this year with the Packers. As such, he has the monetary motivation behind it, signing an expensive contract in a bid to impress the Green Bay front office. That figure will see him earn a little over $25 per minute.

How much of Jordan Love’s Contract is guaranteed?

Due to his first contract being a rookie scale contract, the entire four-year sum of $12,383,453 was made guaranteed at the time of signing. That isn’t the case with his new contract. Due to the incentivized nature of the deal, it could see Love potentially earn up to $22.5 million. However, the base value of $13.5 million has been immediately guaranteed to him.

What are the terms of Jordan Love’s Contract?

Jordan Love’s contract with the Green Bay Packers is highly complex. While the deal is straightforward at 1-year and $13.5 million, with the entire $13,500,000 sum being guaranteed at signing, his contract can be manipulated in a lot of ways due to an additional $9 million that is up for grabs. While the contract automatically voids the 2025-2027 seasons barring any future moves, it has an escalator for the 2024 base salary worth up to $9,000,000.
