Marcus Ardel Taulauniu Mariota is an American football quarterback for the Washington Commanders in the 2024 NFL season. The Tennessee Titans selected Mariota as the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Mariota started 55 games over four seasons for the Titans and had a record of 27-28, as per Pro Football Reference. Mariota has struggled to find his place in the league, as he has started only 13 games since 2020 while playing for four different franchises. In the 93 games Mariota has played in the NFL, he has completed 1,361 passes for 97 touchdowns, as per Pro Football Reference.

Mariota attended Saint Louis High School in Honolulu. He was a two-year letterman and received honorable mention as a senior linebacker from the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH), as per Oregon Ducks' official website. Mariota committed to play for the University of Oregon in 2011. He played in 41 games over three seasons for Oregon, as he completed 779 passes for 105 touchdowns, as per Sports Reference. For his breakout senior year, Mariota was presented with several awards like Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Award and AP College Football Player of the Year (2014).
