Matthew Vincent Milano is an American football linebacker for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL. The Bills selected Milano as their 163rd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Milano attended Dr. Phillips High School in Florida, where he began his football career. As a junior in high school, he earned 8A all-state third-team honors due to his amazing performances. As a senior, Milano recorded 100 tackles, including 18 tackles for loss and three sacks, and earned Orlando Sentinel and Brighthouse Sports Network Central Florida Defensive Player of the Year honors. He also earned 8A all-state first-team honors and All-Metro Conference, Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 10 (Orange, Osceola counties) All-District honors in 2012. Milano began his collegiate career at Boston College in 2013.
As a freshman in 2013, Milano played in 13 games as a true freshman while recording five tackles, including four solo tackles. In 2014, as a sophomore, he played 12 games while registering 18 tackles, and three tackles for a loss of 19 yards. As a junior in 2015, Milano earned a place on the Coaches and Phil Steele All-ACC Third Teams and claimed ACSMA All-ACC Honorable Mention honors. Milano’s senior in 2016 was his breakthrough year, where he recorded 58 total tackles, 6.5 sacks for a loss of 53 yards, and two pass breakups. He was voted All-ACC honorable mention by the league head coaches and conference media, earned Pro Football Focus All-ACC First Team accolades, and was named BC’s William J. Flynn MVP.
