The world was shocked on Monday morning when news broke that three UVA football players were shot and killed Sunday night on campus. A total of five people were shot by a former UVA football player after all had returned from an off-campus field trip to Washington, DC.

Former UVA football players and athletes from the entire sports world have expressed their sadness and offered their condolences in light of this tragedy.

As the Kansas City Chiefs face the Los Angeles Chargers in primetime on Sunday night football this weekend, the three players will be honored on the field.

On Wednesday, Chiefs defensive back Juan Thornhill tweeted photos of the customized cleats he had made.

Thornhill, who played college football at the University of Virginia, will be wearing orange and white cleats with D'Sean Perry, Lavel Davis, and Devin Chandler's names and jersey numbers. On the right side of the cleat are angel wings surrounding each of their numbers.

Thornhill captioned the photo of the cleats by saying that he will be wearing the cleats to celebrate the lives of the late football players.

The University of Virginia Cavaliers' upcoming weekend football game against Coastal Carolina was canceled. Next weekend's matchup against Virginia Tech is still undecided.

What happened to UVA players D'Sean Perry, Lavel Davis, and Devin Chandler?

D'Sean Perry, Lavel Davis, Devin Chandler, and their classmates were returning from a trip to see a play in Washington, DC, on Sunday night. When the bus pulled back into the University of Virginia campus in Charlottesville, shots rang out.

Two other students, a football player named Mike Hollins and a female student named Marlee Morgan, were also shot.

Morgan was released from the hospital earlier this week. Hollins has already undergone two surgeries to remove a bullet and is expected to recover from his injuries. Hollins reportedly tried to get back on the bus when he heard the shots to try and stop the shooter but was shot in the back in the process.

Who killed UVA players D'Sean Perry, Lavel Davis, and Devin Chandler?

Former walk-on University of Virginia football player Christopher Darnell Jones has been accused of killing three of his former teammates on Sunday night. Jones was among the students who attended the play on Sunday night.

When the charter bus arrived back on campus, Jones allegedly pulled out a gun and began shooting. He fled the scene and was eventually apprehended by police the following morning.

Jones had made comments in the last few months about owning a firearm. He was also charged with a misdemeanor involving his concealed weapon.

The motive for the shooting has still not been revealed.
