Initially, Cosmi committed to play for the Houston Cougars, but later shifted to the Texas Longhorns.

During his time at Texas, Cosmi was named second-team All-Big 12 Conference as a redshirt sophomore. Although he briefly considered entering the 2020 NFL Draft, Cosmi decided to play his junior season, where he was named first-team All-Big 12. Drafted by the Washington Commanders in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Cosmi began his professional career as the starting right tackle. Despite facing injuries, he continued to develop himself as a key player for the team.
