Georges Niang is a professional basketball player who plays for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA as of March 2025. In the 2016 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers selected Niang with the 50th overall pick. While playing for the Indiana Pacers, Niang faced rookie struggles and took his time to adjust. He spent time in the G League with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (2016-17) and Santa Cruz Warriors (2017-18). It was with the Santa Cruz Warriors that he developed a consistent shooting stroke. In 2018, Niang signed with the Utah Jazz, where he established himself as a spot-up 3-point specialist. He would often come off the bench and make catch-and-shoot 3-pointers at high percentages. His proficiency as a 3-point spot-up shooter earned him recognition in the NBA as he consistently shot over 40% from 3-point range from the 2018/2019 season to the 2022/2023 season.

Before his NBA career, he had a successful four-year stint at Iowa, where he earned numerous accolades including the Big 12 Tournament MVP in 2015 and the Karl Malone Award in 2016. Niang led Iowa to the NCAA tournament in all four seasons and holds records for career games played (138) and most wins (98).
