Chase Young is a defensive end for the New Orleans Saints of the NFL as of March 2025. He was selected 2nd overall by the Washington Commanders in the 2020 NFL draft. He had a phenomenal rookie season with the Washington Commanders where he received honors of Defensive Rookie of the Year, and All-Rookie Team of the Year, along with a Pro Bowl selection. Over the next 2 years, Young became injury-prone and couldn’t find any semblance of continuity as he only played 12 total games in the 2021 and 2022 seasons combined, as recorded by Pro Football Reference. He was eventually traded to the 49ers at the 2023 trade deadline, where he spent the rest of the season. His latest stint in 2024 came with the Saints, where he tallied 7.5 sacks on the year.

At the collegiate level, Young found his way into record books. He would break the Ohio State School record for single-season sacks with 16.5, as per Ohio State's official Athletics website. His brilliance led to a Unanimous All-American Team selection as well as a plethora of awards. These include the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, and Ted Hendricks Award. Further, he was a finalist for the Walter Camp Maxwell and Heisman Trophy and became one of only 9 defensive players since 1982 to be in consideration for the trophy.
